After having spent much of his life helping others, three years ago Gale decided to broaden his philanthropic efforts. His motivation to begin the Gale Sayes Center, originated with the fact that many children in Chicago's inner city never get an opportunity to fully realize their dreams or potential. Often times they arent afforded opportunities to pursue their dreams due to circumstances beyond their control. During a moment of clarity, Gale decided that not unlike many of the same children he is trying to reach out and help, he was once, one of them. Gale grew up with very modest means. His parents were hard working people, but he never had a lot growing up in Wichita, Kansas and Omaha, Nebraksa. Today he realizes, that if it were not for his superior athletic skills, he too would probably have been denied opportunities to reach his full potential as a person. Gale and his wife Ardie would like to extend their sincerest thank you to all the people who contribute in so many ways to the success of the Gale Sayers Center and the lives of so many children our programs positively impact.
